BBQ Contests

The Midwest’s top pitmasters are going to grill-to-grill.

It’s the most competitive, and most delicious, battle around. Buds, Blues & BBQ features a diverse lineup of pitmasters competing over three days of barbecue challenges. Even more competitive categories are coming in 2025!

Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned events

It’s a four-meat showdown with contests in chicken, pork ribs, pork shoulder and the iconic beef brisket. KCBS-certified judges and the Official Rules and Regulations & Judging Procedures will be used. Teams must compete in all four meat categories to qualify for Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion. Don’t forget to check out the Backyard BBQ and Kids’ Que competitions as well!

Steak Cookoff Association-sanctioned events

Come witness the sport that is a steak cookoff. All SCA events are required to maintain the same standard of a 1 1/8″ or 3cm thick boneless choice ribeye. Watch our competitors grill them into pure gold.

Rib Cook Off Association-sanctioned events

The RCOA is dedicated to spreading the joy of BBQ ribs and fostering a community that celebrates the artistry and passion behind this delectable culinary tradition. To sauce or not to sauce? That is the question.
